The Town of Mooresville has been hard at work assessing existing conditions and emerging trends that will inform a baseline for the new comprehensive plan – specifically addressing five general subjects important to the plan's development: environment, infrastructure, land use, market and economic conditions, and existing town policies and ordinances. A separate transportation assessment is being prepared by the consultant hired to complete a new townwide comprehensive transportation plan. A link to the transportation assessment will be provided on this website when it is complete.
The project team uses data inventories and assessments as the starting point for a comprehensive and engaging discussion with plan participants about the future of the community. The information captured in the document series may be reviewed and refined over time as new thoughts and ideas are considered throughout the planning process. Baseline conditions and emerging trends reported at this time were captured from existing data sets, adopted documents, department interviews, and field observations. The planning period for the new comprehensive plan is 2024 to 2040.
Each subject is presented as a separate document; however, plan participants should expect the siloed subjects presented in the document series to evolve over time into larger planning themes ― weaving together considerations from two or more of the individual documents ― as the community engagement process continues.
Stakeholders are encouraged to read the five assessment documents (book reports) created to support the comprehensive planning process. They can be read in any order; however, we recommend starting with the Introduction to the Assessment Series document first.
Please refer to the document library to the right to open and download the individual book reports.
